HISTORY

With Internet experience dating back to 1986, Chime brings a unique history in envisioning the current capabilities and future development of the Internet and associated technologies. Chime has a history of being on the cutting edge — we've been involved in the foundation/creation of a number of groundbreaking Internet companies and projects:
  • IUMA (the Internet Underground Music Archive- The net's first free hi-fi music archive) [1993]
  • Addicted To Noise (the net's premiere music magazine) [1994]
  • MediaCast (the first company to specialize in Internet broadcasting solutions) [1995]
  • Nineup (live bay area bands webcasting) [1996]
  • The FezGuys (book + monthly column about Internet audio) [1996]
  • GarageBand.com (music community that spawned iLike) [1999]

Following 6 years of monthly columns and features on Internet Audio, in 2002 The FezGuys published the defacto standard resource on streaming audio with the book "Streaming Audio: The FezGuys' Guide" (New Riders Publishing).

Starting in 1998, Chime founder Jon Luini returned to working directly with artists, management, booking agencies, clubs and digital startups. Over the past decade, digital strategy has become the large focus, leading to production-specific projects including Web sites, mobile apps, video production, live streaming, social media management, and more.
